The All-American Rejects blew O'ahu away at their sold-out show at Pipeline Cafe this past Friday. The Color Fred opened up with frontman Fred Mascherino. Mascherino, who normally travels with a full band, played it solo. His show was completely acoustic with him being on both vocals and guitar.

The former guitarist and back-up vocalist for Taking Back Sunday was able to hold his own during his performance. If Taking Back Sunday is what you're expecting to hear, it's not what you're going to get. The Color Fred has a mellow sound, with lyrics that have meaning, but aren't too emotional. The sound is soft and a bit serenading, especially in acoustic.

Throughout the show, Mascherino was very personable with the audience. He talked story with them in between each song and really connected with the crowd. This is his first time in Hawai'i and he was solely here because of his fans. Honolulu wasn't originally part of the tour, but after a few suggestions from some fans on MySpace, he decided to include Hawai'i on the tour. It goes to show that if you want your favorite artist to come out here, all you have to do is ask.

The main act of the night, The All-American Rejects, brought an amazing show to their fans.

They meant business when they came out playing four songs without any breaks. Their opening song, "Swing, Swing," started the show off with a nice bang. The voice of lead singer Tyson Ritter synchronized with the crowds, along with Nick Wheeler (lead guitar/vocals), Chris Gaylor (drums) and Mike Kennerty (rhythm guitar).

They slowed down a bit with an acoustic version of "It Ends Tonight" from their sophomore album "Move Along." The song was originally recorded with a full orchestra, but the acoustic version was just as good.

They also performed another song from their second album, "I'm Waiting," which they lengthened from its original version during the concert.

With an added instrumental section, there was a jam session of just drums, bass and guitar. The audience never failed to sing along to every lyric of every song that was played.

For their encore, they played two more songs, with their last song being "Last Song" from their self-titled debut album.

The All-American Rejects have such an incredible sound that it reaches out to everyone. They truly are an all-American band.
