To simulate the effects of climate change on the Waikīkī coastline, volunteers drew a chalk line through the Makiki-Mo‘ili‘ili district on Wednesday afternoon. Known as "the Blue Line," it is estimated that every inch of land on the makai side of this marker will be literally submersed in water by the year 2050. By this year, scientists predict that Honolulu's sea level will rise one meter.
