Most people make commitments to live healthier lifestyles. So after you feel good, why not do good? Commit to doing a little better than last year by volunteering at a community service organization. So what does this have to do with hip-hop? Though mainstream hip-hop is not deemed "conscious" or "positive," its foundation is. Hip-hop's foundations lie deeper than what is thrown at you in music videos or chart-toppers. The revitalization movement is going on right here in Hawai'i through art and music shows that benefit many community projects going on around town.
Want to know what hip-hop in high definition is? J-Boogie, from San Francisco, is coming down for two shows, Jan. 16 and 17. Known for his creative fusion of hip-hop, soul and trip-hop, J-Boogie will dish out a nice serving of fresh, authentic hip-hop beats. Check out J-Boogie at myspace.com/dubtronicscience.
Along with J-Boogie, DJs Reza and Kid Krazzy from L.A. will be spinning, so be sure to get out to the shows early. Don't sleep on this, folks. Start the new year out right.
