All the long nights sewing, researching and designing have paid off for the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Apparel Product Design and Merchandising production class, for the "Style & Sin" fundraiser fashion pre-show went off without a hitch last Friday night at the O Lounge.
Now that the show is over, all that needs to be done is the hard part: the end of the year finale show, themed "Absolute Fashion - All Bottled Up," at the end of the month.
Both shows are organized, designed and sometimes modeled by the junior and senior students of APDM, this year led by fourth-year student Kelci Shiigi, as part of the Promotion Studio class.
Shiigi said that the show's theme is a representation of the culminations of all the designers' lines and styles being let free for the UH community.
"All Bottled Up" features three separate lines: "Go Green," an all recyclable materials piece, "International," an ethnic piece of their choice, and "Barbie," a piece influenced by the plastic icon.
Alongside the required three pieces, the designers will be showcasing their unique lines in hopes to make their work known to prospective businesses and employers.
"Come out and help support student designers," Shiigi said. "We all worked really hard and appreciate all the help from everyone, so come check it out. It's going to be the shit!" she said.
