Students walking by Papa Lucks yesterday morning noticed this towering wooden head carved from a single coconut tree trunk. Chunks of wood were scattered around a sign at the statues chin: "We're still here, we're not amused. Nā Menehune." Gabriel at Papa Lucks said he saw a student Monday night digging a hole for six hours before erecting his creation.

The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa's Kawaihuelani Center for Hawaiian Language will hold its annual student langauge competition, Mūkīkī Wai Nā Mamo o Mānoa, tomorrow. The event, which spotlights the achievements of UH Mānoa Hawaiian language students, will be held at the Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies Hālau. It starts at 8:30 a.m. and will run until the afternoon.
