In the Oct 7. story “Campus center renovations place tree in danger,” it was reported that the second phase of the project originally integrated the Ficus Comosa tree into the construction plans. Earlier plans did not integrate the tree, according to Campus Center Board President Andrew Itsuno. The story reported that the Ficus Comosa is believed to be the only tree of its kind in the state, but there are eight others at the Lyon Arboretum, according to Itsuno. The story reported that the tree was planted around 100 years ago, but the tree is about 80 years old, according to Itsuno.
