Stress builds throughout the semester, so when that last final is finished, forget about it. Find time to relax and enjoy things that aren’t school related. Your goal should be to relax during winter break and unwind. Here are some helpful tips on how to enjoy your time away from school and focus on yourself.

SPEND TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Being away from friends and family when going to school out of state can be tough emotionally for some college students. When you are home for winter break, enjoy the time you have with those you love. You will be back to school soon enough.

DISCONNECT FROM PHONE OR EMAIL

Constantly checking your phone and email can distract you from relaxing. Turn them off, and turn on to you.

SPEND TIME OUTDOORS

A great way to decompress and relax is to see one of Hawai‘i’s many beaches. Try a hike or visit one of the local waterfalls. You will leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

GET PLENTY OF SLEEP

The amount of sleep lost during the semester on studying and staying up late can now be found this winter break. Try to get at least eight hours of sleep a night so you feel refreshed and ready for Christmas festivities.

CLEAR YOUR MIND

Focusing on multiple topics can be mentally exhausting. During the holiday break, find a good book, catch up on a fun TV series or see a movie. Taking a break from the stress of daily college life is necessary. Taking a well-deserved break can relieve stress and get you ready for the next semester.
