Warrior Football - A fan's perspective

After Hawai‘i won the Western Athletic Conference football championship Friday night, I hurried home and quickly decided to gloat on Facebook to a friend back home on the mainland who constantly doubts the capabilities of the University of Hawai‘i Warriors. Using the Hawai‘i Football Fans "Smack Talk" application, I left him a message that read "the only undefeated left." This had me thinking back to the beginning of the semester and a day I will never forget.
The first day of the school year is a time when young people generally race around campus in search of their new classrooms. For me, this year started out quite the same. However, an interesting occurrence separated me from the pack. As I was wandering around the athletic complex at about 8 a.m. in search of my first class, a kinesiology class, I stumbled across a line starting to form at the Stan Sheriff Center box office that quickly intrigued me. Soon, I came to understand that this was the season ticket line for UH Fall athletics and that tickets were about to go on sale for the first time. Judging from the amazing season I had witnessed from the previous year, I did not hesitate to stand in this line and miss the class that I was scheduled for that morning (after checking my wallet for adequate funds, of course).
I guess I will never know what went on that first day of class, but I can honestly say I made the right decision. After all, my season ticket read, "Manoa Maniacs, Section PP, Row 1, Seat 1." Little did I know at the time of purchase that this would be the most historic football season in UH history.
Since then, my decision to buy these tickets has reaped many benefits on numerous occasions. I have been a fan of the program since the first game last year when I was a freshman, but this season I grew into a die-hard follower of these beloved Warriors. I have also been fortunate enough to witness an unbelievable change in the atmosphere at the Aloha Stadium around game time.
