Swimming teams compete at Husky Invitational today

The Hawai‘i men's and women's swimming teams will compete in the annual Husky Invitational this week, hosted by the University of Washington at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in the state of Washington. The preliminaries are scheduled to start today.

With a 10-0 start on the year, the men's team hopes to continue on their fast lane from a successful start. The Rainbow Warriors took home their first two dual meets of the season against Arizona State before sweeping through the Lincoln Aquatics Shootout in Irvine, Calif.

On the women's side, the Rainbow Wahine are off of a 7-3 start after dropping two home meets to Arizona State and posting a 7-1 finish to take a share of the Lincoln Aquatics Shootout.

The meet starts this morning, Nov. 29, and runs through Sunday, Dec. 2. It features 13 teams, including five men's teams and three women's teams that are ranked in the Top 25 by CollegeSwimming.com.

Joining Hawai‘i on the field are California, Oregon State, USC, Boise State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Puget Sound, Seattle, UC Santa Barbara, Whitworth and Wyoming.

The ranked men's teams for the invitational include No. 4 Michigan, No. 11 California, No. 16 USC, No. 22 Notre Dame and No. 24 Hawai`i. For the women's side, No. 5 California, No. 13 Michigan and No. 21 USC are all ranked.

Preliminaries are scheduled to start this morning, and will continue on Friday and Saturday at 9:30 a.m., with finals beginning at 6 p.m. A long course time trial is scheduled for Sunday, starting at 9:30 a.m.
