Heinemann takes in third career WAC tennis player of the week & Hinshaw appoints selection committee for new Warriors head coach

Heinemann takes in third career WAC tennis player of the week honors
For the third time in his career, University of Hawai‘i men's tennis player Sascha Heinemann was named the Western Athletic Conference men's tennis player of the week for the week of Jan. 7 to 13. This is Heinemann's first honor this season.
In the Rainbow Warriors' home opener last Thursday, the junior from Eschwege, Germany, put up a prolific performance against No. 13 Alabama, earning a victory at the No. 1 singles position. Heinemann beat No. 98 Mathieu Thibaudeau of Alabama in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
His singles win was one of two wins Hawai‘i picked up against the powerhouse Crimson Tide. Heinemann, ranked No. 50 in the ITA preseason rankings, leads the team with an 11-4 singles record on the season.
The Rainbow Warriors jump back into action on Jan. 18, as they face No. 18 Florida State of the Atlantic Coast Conference. First serve is set for 3 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
Hinshaw appoints selection committee for new Warriors head coach
Mānoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw announced last Friday the members of the selection committee for the new head football coach at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
Committee co-chairs will be Interim Athletics Director Carl Clapp and Chancellor Hinshaw. Other members are:
*Tony Guerrero, chair of ‘Ahahui Koa Ānuenue and vice chair of First Hawaiian Bank
*Debra Ishii, executive assistant to the chancellor, UH Mānoa
*Adam Leonard, UH Mānoa student-athlete and football team member
*Dee Jay Mailer, CEO of the Kamehameha Schools
*Peter Nicholson, UH Mānoa professor and faculty athletics representative
*John K. Tsui, chair of Towne Realty Development and former president and chief operating officer of First Hawaiian Bank
*Artie Wilson, partner and realtor, Prudential Locations
